Experience Día de los Muertos traditions at Shangri-La Springs’ Cultural Halloween event Oct. 31
Shangri-La Springs invites the community to enjoy experiences inspired by the holiday Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, during its Cultural Halloween event on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 9 p.m.
During the free family-friendly event, guests are transported to Oaxaca, Mexico to experience the traditional celebration in which families and friends gather to honor those who have passed away. Guests are encouraged to join in on the celebration by attending in Día de los Muertos-inspired costumes and makeup, or a Halloween costume. The event features hourly piñata celebrations, live music including a mariachi band and drum circle, watercolor crafts and art installations.
Cultural Halloween will also feature Paper Grotto Theatre by Lily Hatchett, an interactive mix-media art installation that uses video and dance to bring paper sculptures to life. Authentic Mexican food will be available for purchase from Maria’s, a locally-owned restaurant in Bonita Springs, and guests can also enjoy beer and organic wine at the bar in the Great House. A portion of the food and drink proceeds will benefit the Bonita Springs Historical Society.
